Effects(Advantages and Dis-Advantages of Co-Education)

Co-education means educating both sexes, boys and girls together in an institute or in a class

Co Education is a controversial topic in most of the Muslim communities. There are many advantages and disadvantages of co education according to different The original purpose of co education has been lost and the young generation is developing a mindset that is against Islamic teachings. Everyday different functions are held in educational institutes where male and female students take part with more curiosity and interest.Few people take such activities as prohibited and against the preaching of Islam. In co education there are more chances that student go in wrong direction as they get more opportunities to go astray. It is also against the law of natural history. It’s natural that people of opposite gender have attraction for each other, so it creates problems.Of course certain conservative people criticize the system of co-education. According to them, this system is against our tradition. They also fear that co-education will develop immoral relationships between boys and girls. They believe that in this system both the boys and girls will be spt. But these arguments do not hold much water.

The fact is that there are so many advantages of co-education when boys and girls have to live later on as husband and wife, there is no need of separating them in schools. Rather it will give them the opportunity to come close to each other and understand each other fully. We should not believe in the morality of the medieval ages. The world is changing fast today and women are being given an equal status with men in the society. Let us, therefore accept the changing order and open more and more co-educational institutions in future and say good bye to separate institution
Education as a social process:
Education stands for deliberate instruction or training. Man does not behave in society impulsively or instinctively. He behaves in a way according to which he is trained. Some thinkers have equated it with socialization. A few other regard education as an attempt to transmit the cultural norms of the group to its younger members. It is also understood more knowledge. All these three interpretations of education as a process or a continuous entity the word process stressed continuity.
Firstly, education, viewed as socialization, is continuous. Socialization is social learning. This social learning is not intermittent but continuous. Perfection in social learning is rarely achieved the more we try to learn our own society and fellow beings the more remains to be learned.
Social learning begins at birth and ends only at death. It continues through out our life. There is no point or state in our life at which we have learn everything about one group or society and beyond that nothing remains to be studied. We belong to different groups at different stages of our life. As these groups change, we must learn new rules and new patterns of behavior.
